Product coding has been hitting the news recently for all the wrong reasons. A report in one of the tabloids highlighted two unscrupulous individuals, who were guilty of wiping off best before dates on a range of produce; before re-coding these products with a new date code. Out of date food produce was then being re-introduced into the food chain illegally.
